Impact of Medications on Fall and Fire Risk in Older Adults

FireTox recently completed a study assessing the relationship between medication use and fall & fire risk in the older adult population. The project was funded by the Fire Protection Research Foundation in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security. The full report can be accessed on the NFPA website by clicking here. FireTox is pleased to know that this work will provide additional content for community risk reduction programs such as NFPA's Remembering When program. FireTox welcomes Brendan McCarrick, P.E.

We are excited to announce that Brendan McCarrick, P.E. has joined the FireTox team. Mr. McCarrick will serve as a senior project engineer responsible for managing fire protection design and construction, fire safety research, and fire investigation projects. Mr. McCarrick obtained his B.S and M.Eng. in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland. He is a licensed engineer in Maryland and the District of Columbia with applications pending in Virginia and West Virginia.
