JAMIE MCALLISTER, Ph.D., P.E., C.F.I.
Dr. McAllister is the Founder and Technical Director of FireTox, LLC as well as a consulting fire protection engineer and forensic toxicologist at Combustion Science & Engineering, Inc. Dr. McAllister is also an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland where she teaches a graduate level course on human behavior in fire. Dr. McAllister has been involved in the field of fire science since joining the volunteer fire service in 1995. The fire service inspired Dr. McAllister to obtain her Bachelor and Master degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.
For over two decades, Dr. McAllister has immersed herself in the investigation of fire and combustion related deaths and injuries. In 2010, she compounded her specialized expertise in this unique field of study by completing her PhD in Forensic Toxicology from the University of Maryland, School of Medicine. Her Ph.D. studies focused on the effects of carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide on fire victims. Dr. McAllister has investigated hundreds of fires for almost two decades and participated in numerous fire research projects. She has also offered expert opinions in fire death and injuries cases on the impact of code violations, product defects, fire dynamics, and alcohol and drug intoxication.
BRIAN MCALLISTER, B.S.F.Sc.
Mr. McAllister is the business administrator and co-owner of FireTox, LLC. Mr. McAllister has been involved in the field of fire science since joining the volunteer fire service in 1989. His passion for firefighting led him into the career fire service in 1998 as a federal firefighter at the Marine Corp Logistics Base in Albany, GA. Mr. McAllister was subsequently hired by the District of Columbia Fire Department in Washington D.C. in 2001 where he currently holds the rank of Captain. In addition to his experience in the fire service, Mr. McAllister worked as a fire science technician. In this position, he gained experience in fire origin and cause investigation and fire research and development. In addition to numerous fire service certifications, Mr. McAllister holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science from the University of Maryland.
